Drawing beams and walls above/ below reference line

So slabs let you choose whether they're placed below or above reference line (I hope "reference line" is the proper term because I use Polish version and always struggle to translate names of tools).
Is there any option like this for beams and walls? Beams would we most welcome. It's quite annoying that beams are always drawn BELOW reference line.
Take lintels as example. You place them over a hole in the wall and then have to lift them with their height.

There has been at least one wish for this for a while now.

Here is one I found.

Beams have been talked (complained) about for some time now.
Let's hope GS update this tool soon as they have done for some others in the past.

I see, sorry for multiplying threads. I didn't find that one.

As a workaround, you can make a complex profile beam and set the section of the beam in relation to the origin as you would prefer.
