It seems that Archicad hotlink does not have overlap function.
How can I use the same method as overlap used in autocad?

As a non-autocad user, I have no idea what overlap is.
What is it you are trying to do?

The file that A hotlinked is B.
C hotlinks A. B is not called from C.
This is the overlay concept.
attachment is
The file that A hotlinked is B.
C hotlinks A. B is also called together.

In AutoCAD xrefs set to Overlay are ignored when the file is xref'ed.
This cannot be done in AC as far as I know.
It is a really nice function in AutoCAD, attach vs overlay, as it allows you to work in xref files with context, prevents unwanted xref chains and purely reference drawings from cluttering subsequent drawings.

Edit: with the control you have in AutoCAD anyway.

I believe that is standard procedure for Archicad.
If module B is hotlinked into file A, then File A is hotlinked into FILE C, then module B will be included in the hotlink of File A in File C.
There is an option to not include nested modules so then you would only get A inside C - with no B.

Forgot about that check, but it's an all or nothing approach... though it might be enough for the OP. I lost all my bathrooms XD

Thank you again.

The inability to select which nested HLMs to include or not strike me as very strange as the nested modules actually shows up in the manager and that it is possible to toggle between include/skip after the HLM is placed. Could it really be that technically hard introduce selectivity here?

As mentioned below, you can avoid overlapping once.
If more than one comes in, one overlay and one attachment are not allowed.
understand.
So I guess I misunderstood that.

I have never looked to see if there were any options for nested modules in the manager as it never occurred to me that it might be different from when placing... Good to know.
