Try to same a lower resolution version (say half its size) of the image to see if that works.
If that works it probably means that the original image size is too large for AC to handle.

According to GS literature for ArchiCAD 10:

Handling of bitmap files has been enhanced. In previous versions,
the size of bitmap images was limited to 4048x4048 pixels. The
limit has now been raised significantly (to 32767x32767 pixel size)
in all these areas:
- When importing/placing bitmap images with the Figure Tool.
- When setting Rendering Size
- When setting Rendering Background Size
- When Printing/Plotting bitmaps.

Cheers,

Sorry Link, I meant the file size not the image size.

I don't know of any. Only the image size limitations mentioned earlier.
