Intersecting levels of a mesh.

I have placed a mesh on top of a mesh, and I need one edge of the top mesh to be at the same level as the top of the lower mesh... how can I do this? I realise this question is somewhat vague, but.. my brain is mush right now.. if it would help get my question across I could post some images as well.

cheers,
daniel

Could you attach any screenshot or scanned hand-made sketch?

Select the "lower" mesh and node in the Plan view. Go to change Elevation of node (Contextual menu). Note Elevation and click okay.

Select the "top" mesh and Node in the Plan view. Go to change Elevation of point (Contextual menu). Change Elevation to match "lower" Node and click okay.

If you are no so plan inclined ...

Select both meshes, show them in the 3D window, select the one to be edited, with Select and activate tool of course, drag the nodes vertically to required heights/other nodes. If you have to input the value, use Z

Works?

This would work, except im not trying to set two points to the same height, Im trying to set the point of one mesh to a random spot on the other mesh that isn't defined by a node or hotspot, but no snap tool seems to want to snap to the top of a mesh.

1. Place hotspot to the "Top Mesh" redefining point on the Floor Plan.
2. If "Top" & "Lower" Meshes are on the same Story, but on different layers, than hide "Top Mesh" Layer.
3. If they are on different Stories, than Copy(Ctrl+C) placed hotspot. Goto "Lower Mesh Story". Paste (Ctrl+V) copied hotspot to it's original place on the Floor Plan. Choose Column Tool and place with it's center anchor point on the pasted hotspot using Gravity Tool (gravity2mesh).

Now you have anchor point on the "Lower Mesh" to wich you can anchor "Top Mesh" point in 3D Window.

Instead of column you can place "3d hotspot" of GDL ToolBox.

Aside from placing a Column with gravity on (as mentioned), can't you just a new node to the "random" location? Fit to ridges.

... and then drag to it in 3D.

For the 2D - place a level dimension with the gravity to mesh at that spot of the reference mesh, read the value, edit the level of the other mesh to that value.
