MEP Duct Segment Reference

I'm trying to get a duct with a continuous straight reference at the top edge, instead of the centerline; as in the beam geometry from the attached screen shot. I found an old article that looks like it used to be an option; did we really lose this valuable modeling option with the latest iteration of the MEP ducts?
(from an old article using the previous MEP plug-in and library: https://help.graphisoft.com/AC/24/INT/_AC24_Help/086_MEPModeler/086_MEPModeler-6.htm)

I need the blue duct to look like the gray beam:

Like below? If so its just a question of playing around with the individual segments reference axes until it looks right.

looking at the duct segment, I see this:

and there doesn't seem to be a pet pallet option to adjust either.

Oh - I assumed AC28 where this particular fragment of development managed to get pushed in - you can't do that in AC27...

oh, funny. lost a basic function, brought it back... forced migration?

Sadly, this simple basic function of the duct didn't give us in 27.3.0.

Well - right now we can't really put it past them...

honestly, I havenn't had to use the MEP tools since like version 14 or 15, I think back when it was a paid add-on, and was super clunky to use. I'm happy to see it's infinitely more user friendly; bummed to see its borderline useless. Hopefully when I finally get clients to move into AC28, I'll be able to use it and see if it works
