Mesh Consolidation

Anyone got any ideas how we could get a functionality to consolidate meshes in the same way we have tools for consolidating lines and fills?

Our use case is that we import triangulated files from our survey and civil engineering colleagues that from a 3D DWG with TIN triangles we can get each triangle imported as an individual mesh. If we could then consolidate these to make a single (or sub-groups depending on surface) we could then quickly make the 3D data useable.

Operating system used: Windows

Matthew Johnson - POWE Architects
AC4.5 --> AC29 & Revit 2016 --> 2026
Asus Zenbook Pro 16x i9-13900H w/ Nvidia RTX 4070 4K dual, Windows 11 64bit + Quest3
I'd rather be sailing.

I have been converting complex TIN's into a morph (you can then create a union with the morphs). it gives a bit more control over the display, especially when you use "hidden edges" to display the edge contours, but not every single triangle. Or you can smooth it out entirely.

Union to morphs is a good tip.

In the past I would use Sketchup and a plugin that exports xyz values for points. Then you can use create mesh from surveyor data.
If morph slows down your project you can save it as an object.

Hi,

Here's a short video (in French) I made where I transform meshes into morphs (as suggested by MtichD).
I save the unified morph as an object (as suggested by Davor P) to retrieve the XYZ coordinates in the 3D script, quickly process them in Excel, and finally recreate a mesh.
