No Snap Points in Trace Reference in AC18

Hello,

Some time ago I had written a post about inactive snap points of windows/doors when overlapping a window/door from ground floor with a window/door from 1st floor using the Trace reference.(there would be no snapping points to fix the exact position for the windows/doors in the Trace Reference)

As nobody answered, I continued looking for the solution (it took me long time and many experiments, really)..Here is a print screen of one experiment I've done and this what I have found and if I am wrong, please correct me.
In a new project I've drawn 2 walls, which have the hight on 2 levels from ground floor up to the roof.On the first wall I placed randomly some windows. I then switched to the 1st floor and drawn some randomly windows on the 2nd wall. Then I tried to line up windows from the two walls using trace reference. Ironically, when the walls are set to be visible on all the storeys the snapping points would stop working in TRACE REFERENCE and when it is set to be visible only to home storey, the snapping points work properly...I did the same experiment in AC17 and there it works properly..

Maybe it is not such an important issue you would say... but it is really, really annoying for those who work with walls which have the heights of many storeys.

Am I the only one to have discovered this BUG ?
Hope to get some improvements from Graphisoft..such a shame..

There's a trick for dragging an element from the centre when there is no snap point or node there (works in 2D and 3D). Simply select the object, activate the drag command but don't click anywhere, activate the special snap point constraint (assuming it is set to centre), click on one side of the object then click on the other side and your drag will start from the centre of the object. Of course this assumes that there are hotspots on the corners of the object which there are in your example.

I have the special snap constraint mapped to Shift + C on the keyboard so I can activate it quickly without moving my hand. I use it for all sorts of things.

here is another common situation for me where there I do not have and nodes or snap points in the 3D window where I want them.

and another place where there should be a node or snap point

and simple window opening / empty hole does not have a snap point or node at the center so you can align it's center with something else.

work around is to align it before you turn it into a an empty hole. I think it should have a snap point or node at the center.

I am going to quit posting these examples, there are just too many.

That is strange because I get those Hotspots in both cases you show. My cursor properly senses all nodes of a Profiled Inclined Beam, properly senses all edges of the empty Window opening, it even places the Special Snap Point at the middle of the edge. I am assuming you have Special Snap Points enabled.
I am just starting to think that this may have something to do with your machine. Maybe the graphics card driver. You could try updating it.

I think it is some user error, settings, and in combination with some bad graphics card configurations. I do not have this problem using my other computer.

Hi all, this is an ArchiCAD 18 bug. It has been fixed and working well since AC 18 build 5014!!

We checked the file sent by Steve regarding the roof's pivot line problem. It is indeed a bug and we have added it to our database. The workaround is to view the model from where the status point is closer to the 3d body, then you will be able to catch the end of the pivot line.
