Not able to get SEO to work correctly

Hello again,

i have a composite slab, and a complex wall sitting on it. i'm trying to get the SEO to get the wall to cut the carpet and underlayment of the slab. the wall materials are all stronger than the floor finishes, but whether i subtract or downward extrude the SEO i get the same result. and of course i can't merge a wall and slab.

I don't have the same composites and building materials as you, but there should be no need for SEO at all.

If the building materials are all correct, the strongest will cut the weakest automatically.

But also check that the skins for carpet and underlay are set as 'finish' or 'other' and not 'core'.

I don't think this is the problem, but who knows?

Go into Options > Project Preferences > Legacy and see if the box for legacy intersection is ticked (it shouldn't be).

Otherwise, maybe we can try something.

Select that wall and slab in plan, then save selection as a module.

Zip that MOD file and attach to reply here (can't attach MOD files directly).

I should then be able to open that MOD with all of your building materials.

Ensure the layers of your Complex Profile are also correctly asigned skin or core.

Is your floor not trimming the lower wall either? Looks like it is overlapping...

Hi Barry, I’m away for a few days but I’ll get on that then

Hi Barry,

Nope, nothing in legacy. walls will intersect correctly automatically with one another, but my slabs and walls never cut at all unless i do SEO. but this case is driving me nuts. the slabs in the MOD are a different location than my original post, but the issue is the same. neither slab will cut each other correctly, and my complex profile wont cut the slab even with SEO. the wall below won't cut with SEO. they are both on the same layer, same reno filter. i've confirmed the skins are correctly set too.

all skins are correct.

I was hoping to get just the problem walls and slab in the MOD, rather than the whole model.

So I am not really sure where your problem is located.

When I look at the vertical section through the garage, the walls and slab seem to trim fine.

The carpet and underlay is stopping at the wall plaster, the plywood continues through to the frame/insulation, and the floor frame/insulation carries through to the outer cladding.

Is this not what you are seeing?

What are you seeing for this intersection?

Barry.
