.
Are you looking for something like this?

Complex profiles should work. There isn't any option to make complex profile slabs, but you can use profiled beams instead.

EDIT: Turns out the original post was spam (and hence deleted), so it only seems as though this post started the thread.

@Barry

Is there a way to keep the messages that start a viable thread? At least a summary, or what the second comment replied to.

This one seemed to spark a discussion, the other GPU related is also interesting (we had a brief chat about fake profiles in that already)...
For example, Discourse keeps the messages of inactive/deleted users too - you just cannot click on the profiles anymore, sometimes it just shows a random ID.

Wouldn't you think it would be better?
I'm not sure if these messages are from bots, but they touch "real" subjects.

Generally when we ban a user we also delete all of their posts - there can sometimes be many by that user.
It is possible to ban a user and keep the original post though.
I guess if it is an interesting question that has already prompted useful replies, we can do that or try to remember to copy and repost the original post as a quote.

It also depends if the poster adds a web link in the message or in their signature.
As moderators, we can edit a post but not a signature - hence we have to ban the user and delete all of their posts to remove the link.

A couple of days ago, I edited my (originally second, now first) post in this thread, in order to give context.

Yes, I saw that, it gave me the idea to ask Barry about keeping the initial ones.
