I was trying to cut groves in the wall using seo. i refered the following example from the forum(also show in fig).
http://www.archicadwiki.com/Solid%20Element%20Operations

in the example above we have to cut cubes that have been streched long and thin.
which tool should be used to cut these cubes?

Little slabs, walls, anything.....

Or, if you want to gang the grooves up to simplify arraying them along the wall, make a complex profile and use it as a wall for horizontal SEO and as a column for vertical SEO.

Solid Element Operations use one element to cut another.

For a horizontal groove, you'd model a slab or a wall the size and length of the groove and stick it into the wall where the groove will occur.

Use the SEO solid element operation steps to cut the wall with the new groove making element.

This is a 3D operation, not merely a mark on an elevation.

somehow i am not able to do it
let me tell you what i did.
1)created a wall
2)created a cube (strip) for groove using wall tool.
3)set wall as finished wall and cube as structural bearing in layers.
4)increased the priority of cube more than target element.
5)opened seo palette.
6)selected wall using arrow.
7)clicked on get target element
8)selected cube
9)clicked get opetator element
10)hide cube

there was no change

You need to execute a subtraction in the SEO.

YOu need to make the layer where the cutting cube element lives "wireframe" to make the cube element invisible.

thanks
it was silly of me i was pasting the cube on the surface of the wall instead into it,giving the depth of groove.

offtopic question
I hope you don't mind me asking in the same thread.
how to make the edge of the cube rounded as shown in fig ?(for creating cornices)

Make that part out of a Complex Profile.
You can make its section any shape.
