TEMPLATE FILE

I am in the process of developing a template file for the office so that everyone starts a new project with the same settings. (file...new...template file).

I would like some hints from those who have had to encounter similar tasks/ problem to give me hints

For my twopennyworth: I bought the STS templates and modified them for our office - the cost was worth the time and effor saved. It is inevitable that the STS templates won't exactly suit your needs,but it is a good start.

Either buy something and edit, or:

- sit down and make a list of everyhting you want standard (layers, layer combos, views, pen weights, loaded libraries, etc etc)
- make the blank file with those settings
- make sure all of the people use it (ha!)

The same you have to do for PlotMaker; standard title blocks, autotexts, paper sizes according to your output device ...

At this point, you should decide whether:

- to dump the architectural career and start working as a CAD manager (Hi Tom!)

- to not care and work only with people who listen to what you say (as possible as a snowball fight outside in Dubai now)

Any other option leaves you doing two jobs in one working time for one salary ...

So, Vincent ... I feel for you. Been there, done all of the above, and then some.

Oh, PS: Don't expect the management to understand that there SHOULD be a CAD manager if there are more than one person using any CAD software

I've always wanted to live in New Zealand. Looks very beautiful and peaceful.
