Trimmed Column Error

Anonymous
Not applicable
In the attached graphic you will see a wall with a column partially embedded in it. A roof plan extends completely through both the wall and the column. If I use Trim To Roof or an SEO, I get the result in the middle. This is probably because the column "theoretically" is still as tall as the wall. But this isn't what I would expect. I would expect that the column knew that is was completely sheared off by the roof plane, and therefore, wouldn't cause a cavity in the wall.

So my wish is that this be fixed.

I wouldn't ever actually build a wall with a roof going completely through it -- one of my students tried this -- but I can think of other scenarios where this error might occur.

As I said before, ArchiCAD is horrible. It often does not let you do building things wrong. What do the plans of this look like? Also wrong.

The glaringly obvious thing in this example is that it can NOT be built like it is modeled.

Well ... if you set the wall/column intersection priorities to that the column eats away the wall, this will happen. The only way for this not to happen is to set the same pripority and use simple subtraction SEO, no extrusions. However, this is profesionally WRONG, so my wish is that the knowledge of the person who did it is fixed.

Exactly my point ...

Not really ... but, I might be wrong as I usually am, so please give us the example!
