Wall Slab Complex Profiles

Chris Grantham

This may be a pretty simple question, but it is one that has plagued me for a long time. For some reason I can never get a complex profiled wall and slab to clean up properly in section. I would like the framing to extend to each other, but the Gyp. board always extends through the wall. I have set the priorities to appropriate numbers but to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and apologies if this has been answered and I missed it.

Do you have "enable skin priorities checked?
Are the fill types the same?

Fill types are indentical, and enable skin priorities is checked.

Ok
I'm not the best at this, but
layer intersection groups could possibly
have something to do with this.
Have you tried changing one them to see what happens?

Tried that... everything is on the same intersection group. Even tried moving them around to see if there was any difference, but it does not work. THanks for the response though.

Hi Chris,
I'm still struggling a bit with Complex Profiles myself.
I only use complex walls, so different things seem to crop up a lot.
One last thought, some have said that the reference lines have to touch?
Others have seem to say no that does not matter.
But it might be worth a try.
Sorry I could not be of more help.

There is no reference line in slabs like those in the wall. I am stumped. Anyone?

Chris,

Stretch the wall up past the plasterboard until it hits the underside of the structure. Use SEO to subtract the wall away from the floorslab. Everything will now appear to join correctly!

Skin priorities don't work automatically in section. If you have a complicated situation you will need to actually model it using a complex profiled wall, with the skins correctly stretched to where they need to be.

Hope this helps.

DUH! Cool trick peter. Thanks... Can't believe different composites don't resolve between these elements!

Well once again I want to thank you too Peter.
I would not have guessed that.
However sure now that the BIG 13 is out, that GS will address some of the
Complex Profiles I like so much.

Such as although this trick would not work in a complex profile I just made that had horizontal V rustic siding that cannot be stretched without distorting the width, unless you like you siding to be different widths.
And to make things worse, the "split" fills that make the T&B plates appear to be wherever I make a cut would not be in the right place any more.
Now that's sad!
Now of course I'm hoping you prove me wrong:-))
