Wall W/ Custom Profile Doesn't Like Windows or Doors

I have just started making some custom wall profiles.

I am not able to put windows and doors into them without being informed that there are scripting errors.

It happens with the custom wall profiles provided by Graphisoft as well.
The window is there in 3D ok. 2D shows up a bit strange. If I attempt to mess with the window I get scripting error alerts all over.

Is there something simple I am missing before I wander any deeper into this?

(I had dreams of super customizable profiles w/ custom pensets for sections with top plates, other details etc. Moldings and water tables and changes in sidings and stemwalls w/ footings and sill plates and A.B.'s and on and on and.... Oh my broken heart...)
I too had great expectations which are being shattered by the minute. One thing I did like is that you can change the material for each "piece" by bringing up the pet palett on any edge and apply material to all edges. That is neat. However, I am having the same problems with my windows/doors. I have made a half round stacked log profile on the exerior of a 1/2" sheathing, 2x6 wall, 1.2" gypsum and my windows/doors are acting exactly how yours are. I get the blue dot of death. I have posted my problem in "other problems" thread so between the two maybe we can find a solution. I will let you know if I find the exact issue here. Good luck!

Thanks for the response.

I was feeling a bit out of my mind over this. Can't seem to not have it happen with custom profile.

I played around with this a little since it was giving you such grief. I get a similar result when I use archicad windows but it worked fine with door and window builder windows which is what I normally use. This does not help you. The window I tried was the w1 wood casement. This window also gave a parameter error when the window was opened and in the window settings dialog box. If the very same window was placed in a non profile wall it placed correctly and there were no parameter errors when viewing the window in the window settings dialog box. This sounds a lot like a bug to me, but there was one other interesting thing I noticed. The window did place correctly in the "brick wall with molding and footing" which was supplied with the AC10. This made me think I had problems with my profile but I did not find a resolutions. There do appear to be some major problems with either the profile walls, the standard archicad windows, or a combination of the two. Have you sent your file to graphisoft? Here is an image showing a problematic archicad window and a door and window builder window.

Just off the top of my head; I suspect a problem with the way the window is using a global variable (perhaps GLOB_CONTEXT or WALL_SKINS_PARAMS).

Have you tried putting a basic GDL made window in the wall at all? I am still having the problem but I used a primitive window in my wall and it works. Window/Door builder windows and AC9/10 windows do not work. My problem now is when I go to sect/elev/3D I lose my walls but my windows/doors are "floating" in air. I'm at a loss here as well. I'm going to try to build a window and save it as a GDL object and do a SOE on them to see if that works.

There seems to be a real bug here as multiple users are experiencing the same thing and there are now two topics running on this subject. I hope someone (or everyone) has contacted tech support.

Replying way later...

Getting back to this. No the problem doesn't seem linked to polygon cleanliness. Even just two polygons in the profile cause problems if they are run continuous vertically as in a polygon for stud and one for sheathing. It doesn't happen when the polygons are stacked simply...

I am attaching a mod file. I hope it works. I can find no way to work around this issue. If I change the window/door setting from symbolic to projected the windows become visible again but are no longer symbolic for floor plan. They are always there in 3d (whole other array of problems there...)

I was really hoping to use this custom profile tool extensively. I am most disappointed in not being able to use it with library doors and windows. I have been using it quite enjoyably and successfully for applications not needing windows or doors.

Anyone find a working solution or is this a dead end bug?

Thanks

And I have been contacted by a tech and am assuming that this is the proper place to post this file.?

I am sorry to say I have not found a solution as of yet. I have half given up on the profiled walls for my general use. It doesn't seem to be real "log home" friendly.
