See attached image, this is done with a wall profile, is there a way to get the profile to wrap up properly around openings?

I think you may need to give a little more information, like just how you would like it to show.

Have you tried making your Opening Reference Lines visible? I see (by the tick) you have activated them, but have you moved them to the correct edges of the profile?

not having used these complex-yet-dumb profiles out of principle i haven't really played with them enough to know the required workarounds that would allow us to actually use them productively. however....

does the window/door 'wall opening material' option play nice with them? or indeed play with them at all? to my way of thinking, if the option to use the wall 'side' is ticked, it should intelligently wrap the wall side into the reveal . . . but i doubt very much that it does . . .

So what methods do you guys use to create a wall with different exterior materials, like the image for example, a brick wall with stone base and pre-cast horizontal strips? So that when you place a window in it the materials wrap around correctly, the only method I’ve used in the past was a complicated combination of different walls and slabs and empty openings! I was hoping I don’t have to do that again.

can’t really say I understand all these profile design layers yet, but changing them didn’t seem to make a difference, I’ll go through the help to read about these later..

Sorry Hassanen, this is not the solution you need. In fact I don't think there is a solution to your problem.

This is what I was trying to achieve with the complex profiles. I ended up using separate walls, slabs and empty openings to achieve these walls and had to make sure all these elements where changed whenever the design changed. Too bad complex profile isn’t yet mature enough to be usable; it would’ve made the design process so much smoother.

Yes this is unfortunate. I have even resorted to using a separate profiles or wall section (using SEO) to get string courses into reveals.

There is a long list of features Archicad that seem good until you try to use them more than superficially
