Window & Door Head Heights

I am new to ArchiCAD and have a question about inserting windows and doors at the same head height. I have set both my doors and windows to a head height of 6'-8", but the door head casing and window casings do not align. Is there a way to make them line up?

Kate,
What you are seeing is due to door and window sizing conventions
in the US. A 2'-8"x6'-8" door is the door panel size and the total
height of the outside head frame is usually the panel height
plus the head frame thickness. For windows it is different.
Windows are called out by their outside frame size
so a window set at 6'-8" will have it's out side head frame at 6'-8"
but it's finish head frame under side will be 6'-8" minus
the head frame thickness. AC follows these conventions
so you have to elevate your windows the thickness of the head frame
to have the window finish head and casing line up with
the door finish head and casing.

Thanks Peter. I finally figured that out after fooling around with it for awhile. Now my question is, why does it seem the hotspots for the windows are not at the corners of the frame? They seem to be inset by about 1/4" +/-.

I believe the hotspots are placed at the corners of the
rough opening. By default, AC windows have a 1/4" oversize.
This is a setting in the parameters and can be set to zero
so that the hotspots are exactly at the outside corners of the frame.

ok, i double checked my settings:

I have my frame set to 1 1/4" and the rough opening offest set to 0".

I have rough opening & unit hotspots selected to show.

When I select the window & measure the location of the hotspot relative to the inside line of the window frame the hotspot is only 1" off the inside frame line.

If my frame is 1 1/4" thick that makes the hotspot 1/4" inside of my frame.

Any suggestions?

here is a diagram of what i am talking about.

Kate,
I just checked and what I said seems to be true.
I set the horizontal and vertical oversize to 6" and
I get hotspots at those locations as well as editable hotspots
at the window outside of frame corners.
I am working in AC 10 and used a w casement 10 window.
I did notice that in plan and 3D the frame or something is stretched
to fill the void between the "frame" and the rough opening.
This is not how it worked in previous versions.
I notice you are working in AC 11 so maybe things have changed again.

Peter, thanks for your efforts to help figure this out. It seems to be a mystery for now. Maybe it does have something to do with version 11.
