Hello all! New to archicad here.
i have 3 questions,:
1. If we have 2 paralell walls and we want to make a door or a window or combination of both that goes from ground level to the ceiling between these 2 paralell walls, do we have to create a wall in that place so we can then insert a door and a window?! or is there a way to avoid creating an element we really dont need there? Because if i dont have a wall i cant insert a window or door.
2. In this case of the window, the 3d model is showing me 5x3 square subdivisions, but the window only shows the outside frame. If i click "middle rail" i will get the rail, but not its smaller subdivisions still.
3. Trying to insert ventilation bricks, but even if i set "frame width" to 150mm or whatever number i insert, i only get a surface in 3D and not the blocks thickness.
Thanks!

If you have 2 stacked walls then you need the window in one wall and a separate opening in the other.
Better is not to stack the wall.
Just change the height of the lower wall and set the floor plan display to be 'All relevant storeys'.
Now you need just the one window set to the size you want.
As for the display of the window in 3D (and this will probably affect the display of the vent bricks as well), check your Model View Options.
You will want to set the 3D display to 'full' or 'detailed'.

i Barry,
Thanks for the answer. I am not sure you got my problem:
A. What i want is to place a door and, above the door a window, in a place where there is no wall, which is in the yellow space between wall nº1 and wall nº2.. the set of door+window goes from ground level to roof... But if i dont have a wall there, i can seem to get an option to place a door or a window.
B. As for the 3D view, i still get the same views, even though i changed the MVO to full in 3D, as shown in picture.
Cheers,
Rui

A. Why is there no wall?
Just make the lower floor wall higher and set it to show on 'all relevant stories', then place a window at the appropriate height.
You must have a wall to add a door or window.
In you image I see the door and window there already, they just look like wooden panels due to the display settings that will be fixed in problem B.
B. It is not the object 3D settings you need to adjust, it is the 'Detail Level of Door and Window Symbols' that you need to change.

Thanks Barry!
Solved the B part with your precious advice. Regarding the A part, isnt a curtain wall also a choice? Say i would place a curtaion wall between those 2 paralell walls as a window and place a door below?

A curtain wall would work, as it does not need a wall to be placed in like a window does.
But then you have to configure your curtain wall to look like a window.
