So placing the windows works well, but then when I go to move them either horizontally or vertically, I have to zoom out really far, and do this in the screenshot. The window is offset from my cursor, so the window is actually very far away from where I’m clicking and dragging somehow. Thought it might be a locking to a specific Story issue but don’t think so. Happens all the time with windows mostly, and doors too. This has got to be a pretty easy fix that I’m totally missing, thank you so much for any help!
Operating system used: Mac Intel-based

Played around with this more today, and still can't figure out what's going on. Thank you in advance for any insights 🙂

You seem to have this window anchored to a storey that is up quite high.
Then you have placed in in a wall that is in a storey below or the wall is in that high storey but set with a low offset of about -101".

Ah interesting! Do windows and doors have to be linked to Stories like this? I guess you can't just put them wherever and expect to drag them around freely...
So I just 'Relinked to Anchor Story' in the window object settings and selected the 1st Floor / Story 1, which seems to help for vertical movement. How do I have this set up as the default the first time? There's a menu item called "Windows Default Settings" but it just opens the main window object, and doesn't seem like this setting would be saved or applied to the hundred other window objects?
I can click and drag the window up and it behaves well. The second time I try to move the window though it starts to be weird again, because I guess it "includes" the offset I did when I moved it the first time?
So think that kinda sorts out what is happening with vertical movement, but also horizontally on the wall I can't figure out. This would seem less related to Stories I think. But I click once to drag left or right and it's somehow already offset by 75' over. Any ideas for this?

Still major issue on my side, if anyone has an ideas thank you so much in advance! Currently working on different newly created fresh project and having all the same issues. The horizontal dragging left and right I can't wrap my head around.
It seems to work fine in 2d plan view, can click and drag like normal. But windows and doors are somewhat easier to work with in 3d since there can be multiples on the wall, and they overlap ton in 2d plan views.
My only new clue that I've noticed is that it seems to be highlighting the origin point in 3d when I try to drag left and right, which is kinda weird right? See screenshot for that.

Is the 'Delta' button next to the X & Y co-ordinates turned on?
If you don't see the 'Co-ordinates' palette, you can turn in on from WINDOWS menu > Palettes.

Yes, Delta button is turned on. But that seemed like a good idea! And tried all the other variations of the Delta button being on and off. Moving the door still behaves weirdly.

Yes that is odd that the project origin is highlighting.
When I drag a door, the user origin moves to the point I am dragging from.
Try placing the user origin at a random position and see if that moves or just highlights when you move your window.

Placed user origin somewhere random but in view. But when I went to move the door it still highlighted the project origin.
What you showed in your screenshot with the user origin moving to the point where you drag from is how it works for everything else I move, except doors and windows.
Seems like we're close, at least kow that when moving doors and windows its not working with the user origin.

Yes, but why just doors and windows?
Does this happen for all files or just this one?
Are they default Graphisoft doors and windows?
