extruding 3d objects from 2d polylines

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi there,

I am new to archidcad, and one of the first excercises I am attempting is to build a 3d site plan of a potential building site. The information that I am working from is a municipal plan showing building footprints, curb cuts ect... Basically 2d pline information from Autocad. My question is:

"Can I extrude this information in Archicad without having to redraw the whole thing?"

Thanks!

First off, welcome!!! Hopefully you'll find this forum mostly useful and a little entertaining.

There used to be an addon called Plan2Model that took 2D Autocad elements and converted them to 3D ones. I don't know if it's still around or not, but I was not very fond of it.

The best method in that case is usually to retrace it using Archicad's Magic Wand tool, which lets you quickly trace polylines or bounded areas with an Archicad tool like Walls or Slabs.
