How can I save a floor plan view in a .jpeg format. I don't want all of it, just a portion. I did a marguee, then 3d window, then plan view. Can I save it right from the floor plan window somehow?

You can or if you want shadows and a better quality render go into the "image" menu "photorendering settings" adjust to your liking, then hit ctrl+0 or "image" "photorender projection" and save the resulting window.

While in the Floor Plan window go to File?Save as...

Jpg is one of the choices. It will however save the whole plan; you will have to crop it in another application.

I don't know if this would be helpful but you might consider a screen capture program if you are, say, including these jpgs in a Word document. I use a program called Screen Print Platinum and it gives one lots of great options.

Without the use of additional Add-on Software, get the view you want on screen and then "hit" the Print Screen button (Prt Scr). This copies the screen image to the Windows clip board. Open the Paint application of Windows, Paste (Crtl-V). Crop as desired. Save as Jpeg.

I use SnagIT 7 ( a screen capture application). It know includes a printer driver. You can print your Floor Plan to this driver and it will generate a bitmap with the given resolution. Produces beautiful images.

Another way to get high res bitmaps is to print to PDF, open in Photoshop, and save to the desired format. I have used this to get line drawings into InDesign and avoid the hassles of the quirky PlotMaker EPS output.
