material fill alignment in 2D

Any idea how I can align fill patterns in 2D window? See the pic below. One material is a wall, the material below is the edge of a slab. I did align the material in 3D, but it doesn't seem to have any relationship to the fill pattern.

That would be the vertical line pattern.
