my opinion: stairs are such complicated components that no object or add-on can yet provide enough flexibility to 'build' every staircase from them and have it display well in documentation

hmm. Ok. It is my understanding that there are add-ons which can be purchased which will enable AC to work like I want it to. Is there a preferred stair-construction add-on? Survey says...?
