the input box has disappeared

the box that appears when you want to type the width of the wall has disappeared, so i cant type anything in. it is also not appearing when i want to type in values for slabs, mesh, lines etc. i am using archicad 14, this has never happened before

It has happened to me before in AC 13. I think its a bug or something.
Go to the preferences and check the input box again and you will have it back.

The 'input box' is called the 'Tracker'. Besides the Work Environment checkbox for the Tracker which Coy82 mentions, if you have the standard toolbars displayed, you will see a button as in the attached screenshot which turns the tracker on and off. Further, the black triangle to the right of the button gives you options for Tracker input.

PS You can also assign a shortcut key to the show/hide Tracker command.
