However, the appearance of the grids in the overall and detail sections and elevations appears random, as they sometimes appear and disappear. (It seems to work better when you have exclusive access to the Teamwork Project, however this is obviously no always possible.)
Also, the grid markers in sections and elevations all appear staggered, even when there is no overlap.
Has anyone had similar problems with the grid tool:
1) selectively permitting grids to disappear in section/elevations
2) total staggering of the markers in section and elevation.

In AC11, it seems to be totally unpredictable and random, and 2) try entering .001 as the Staggering parameter (under the Section/Elevation Panel of the Grid Element dialog) -- it doesn't like zero.

The workaround is to select the S/E one by one on the floor plan and change them to manual rebuild one by one.
One doesn't have to open the view itself to change the S/E to manual rebuild, just open its settings from the floor plan and change it right there.

Tech support said they could not reproduce our problems, and we sent them EVERYTHING.
I agree with Laura, structural grids are IMMENSLY important. We need a working solution.

I also had issues with the Grid Tool (teamworked file, AC11), it was impossible to edit after initial insertion. We also had problems with dimension strings appearing (and then randomly reappearing) even though we had chosen to NOT show the dimensions in the settings.
Alice wrote:It's also frustrating that there are no Grid Tool settings within the IE Marker dialog (I don't want grids in my interior elevations)!!!
It's frustrating to suddnely see a random dimension string run acorss an interior elevation as you're printing your cd's.
