Here it goes: I have by chance deleted a layer with elements which I need. I have a backed up copy of th efile: can I import the missing layer from the old file? How do I do it so that it all the elements are put exactly where they are supposed to?

Thanks for your help guys .

PS: I ment if it's possible to import the layer rather than copy and paste it.

Not sure if this would work for what your describing, but:
Options>Element Attributes> Attribute Manager might work for you.
Once you have it open>First tab on the upper right is Layers.
But then you use the right hand side of the dialog box to navigate to your other file via the Open button on the lower left of the right hand side.
Click on your back up file. This will then list all the layers from that file.

Be especially careful regarding Overwrite vs Append from your back up file
to your primary file.

If you want the elements then you will have to copy and paste from the backup file.
This will re-create the layer automatically.
Turn off all other layers in you back-up to make it easier to select just what you need.

Using the Attribute Manager as Lec suggested will re-create the layer but it will not bring any of the model elements with it.

If you don't want to use the copy/paste method as outlined, open a copy of the backup file, delete the extraneous layers and MERGE that file with the main file.

Thanks you very much for the help guys. I was a bit skeptical about the copy and paste but it worked perfectly recreating the missing layer.
