Importing Property Values into Elements ERROR

Team,
I’m having some issues with the “Importing Property Values into Elements”. Here are my steps:
1. “Export Property Values from Schedule.”
2. “Import Property Values into Element” without opening the file to check for any issues.
3. I receive two warnings from the Preview Import window.
4. After clicking “Import,” it confirms that everything was imported, but no changes are made.
The first warning indicates that the file has more than 350 rows, but only 200 are shown, which is acceptable.
The second warning specifically concerns the source file. If I open the report, everything is red.
Additionally, I notice that there are several columns to the right of the last column in the schedule with UIG values.

Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Dear David,

I’m thrilled to share that I’ve finally managed to resolve the issue. I’ve been trying all day, and I’m not sure how I finally found the solution.

Here’s a summary of my testing process:

1. I didn’t modify the exported Excel file from Archicad in any way. This file contains two reader rows, one of which is hidden, and the other has a second GUID number.

2. I sorted the two files separately by the common ID CODE column. Then, I copied and matched the style patterns from one spreadsheet to the other.

And voila! It worked!

I believe the issue was on my end, and there should be a simpler way to achieve the same thing. However, given the time constraints, I’ve decided to proceed with this method for now.

Looks like something is off with the file you are trying to import.

Since you are on macOS, did you by any chance export the .XLSX from Apple Numbers, or is it a native Excel file? Numbers in my experience can be a little wonky in importing/exporting Excel files, so this could be the problem.

Try using different export options, first when saving from Archicad save as Excel 97-2003 instead and see if that helps. Next you can try to tweak the export from Numbers, if possible.

David, Thank you for your prompt response. Yes, I’m using numbers and exporting to Excel. There’s always an issue, but I don’t particularly like Excel. I exported the file and attempted to import the same unopened .XLS file to replicate the original result. However, I’m still unable to make it work. This is quite peculiar and new to me! I’ll keep trying to resolve the issue, but so far, I haven’t been successful.

I tried saving it to Excel 97-2993 and still gives errors. without OPENING the file just as it was exported.Screenshot 2025-04-03 at 2.40.19 PM.png

Sorry, didn't realize that it was the exact same file you exported and then reimported. That means the error is probably in some of the schedule data itself?

Hard to say what properties are causing problems, I would try duplicating the schedule, removing half of the properties in it and then trying the same exercise (export and import with no changes). Then repeat until you locate the properties that cause problems?

I am no fan of Excel either, it would be nicer if we had the option to export non-proprietary formats like .csv - many people don't have (or want) a MS Office subscription.
