Archicad saves ‘Preferences’ and ‘Work Environment’ files on your computer to ensure you find your own customized environment next time you start Archicad. In rare cases these files can become corrupt, leading to issues within the program. In such cases, as a troubleshooting step, try deleting these files. But before doing this, be sure to do some preparation ahead of time.

Steps of preparation

1. Backup Work Environment

If you have a customized Work Environment (custom toolbar/palette placement and custom shortcuts) store and export your customized Work Environment for safe-keeping as outlined here.

2. Write Down BIMcloud login Info (Not Applicable to Archicad Solo)

If you are using Teamwork, write down the address of the BIMcloud and your username (case sensitive) and password to log back into the BIMcloud after the next steps.

3. ! IMPORTANT ! Send in All Changes on TW Projects From Your Workstation (Not Applicable to Archicad Solo)

In all other joined projects, send in any changes in all Teamwork projects in all versions. The Preferences Cleaning will delete the local copies on your computer, so be sure your unsent changes are synched to the BIMcloud.

4. Quit Archicad
