3d docs show shadows only

Is it possible to only show shadows in 3D docs?

OR

What's the best way to overlay plan view shadow diagrams? I've tried the change everything to white pen except shadows and overlay the 2 views (existing and proposed) on a layout but you can still see the white lines.

3D window with internal vectorial engine and shadows on is your friend. You can copy the shadows from the 3D window onto any 2D window and/or 3DD window using the flat thin marquee.

and now, tell me why I spent time looking for the video on YouTube, and you did not?

Hint from 1995: create a signature with your Archicad version and basic computer specs, so that people know what is it that you are missing and can answer

Yes, you can do that but the shadows become a 2D element and will not change as the model changes....

You want live shadows only?

The question is, what is casting the shadow?

Just switch the shadows on in 3DD... set the top view 3DD and swithch the shadows on.
