ARCHICAD-CINEMA 4D connection

Hi,
i'm using bidirectional connection with ARCHICAD-Cinema 4D Add-on to edit an object from AC inside C4D.
But the hole process is full of failures so it makes no sense to use it.

is Somebody working with it?

cheers,
al

@rodut1112

Do you refer to the 'ArchiCAD Scene Combine' command within Cinema 4D when you say 'optimization of the geometry'?

The following workaround works for me when I want to update the cinema scene and optimize the geometry later on:
- I use the Cinema 4D Exchange plugin to 'Save as' the ArchiCAD model. (I leave the default settings to group the geometry by Class)
- if I want to update the Cinema 4D scene I choose File menu - Merge option in Cinema which brings up the 'Update Merge' dialog. There I can select if I want to update the geometry only or material and lights as well.
- then the optimization can be done to simplify the geometry using the ArchiCAD Scene combine command
but to make it work, the hierarchy should be similair to this structure:

If, for example, the wall object polygons are groupped under a Null object, called SW-001, I just move the polygons of the wall up by one in the hierarchy, then I select the 'Walls' Null and issue the command ArchiCAD Combine. It will optimize the geometry.

Rodu, i'm totally agree with you. Graphisoft is focused in artlantis. It seems Cinema 4d workflow is not yet interesting.

This is Seriously not acceptable!!!
AC20 is nice and all...but what about updating between AC and C4D!!!!('')

There's always been a good workflow between AC and C4D. Even without the Din3D plugin. Just by simply using the C4D exchange plugin you could update models in C4d after adding Materials, Objects, Lighting and what not.

The current C4D plugin doesn't even export properly. Its scaling is completely off and won't update!! And now I READ this ''.

Really Graphisoft...why not just simply update the C4D exchange plugin properly for AC20??? (don't tell me that AC is coded deferent wich makes this hard

The PhotoRendering Setting pallet export is good...but again...where are the update functions!!!??? Not really a useful workflow if you can't update the geometry like in Lumion or Artlantis.

Question for Graphisoft: Are you looking in to this or even considering a proper workflow option between AC and C4D? :?::?::!::!::!::!::!:

I see cinema 4d more for its module MOGRAPH than for CINERENDER
And I wish graphisoft to use cinema 4d as rhino connection
MOGRAPH is much simpler than Grasshopper

I remember maxonform...Was developed by maxon, not graphisoft and workflow was same as DIN3D. Don't understand why was ended development and distribuition, expecially since maxon and graphisoft were joined under nemetscheck.

My guess, that problem is in C4d: should be there a code string that should handle the update process.
Again, is really odd...

A connection like grasshopper on cinema 4d may look like this

hallo ciciolo.

Could you direct me to that forum?
Maybe the guys at Maxon don't know that their plugin isn't working with AC 20.
Because on Graohisofts site you can clearly download the C4D exchange plugin plugin for AC"20". Only...it does not work!!!!!

and to be clear this is a AC 20 problem. because I have tried various things.
And the export/update problem is only when exporting from AC "20". AC 19 does the job.

to "abdelaziz".
I don't want to be rude but. this thread is realy focused on exporting and updating models from AC to C4D.

if you want u can make a thread for rhino and C4D. possible that u can find help or suggestions there.

Hi Justinx, I was talking about an old application named "Maxonform", that allowed fully exchanges between ArchiCAD and Cinema 4D.

About AC20, I have to try: until last month all my projects was in AC17. I'll keep you informed about, have a nice weekend
