Do you get some nice render-times?
Thanks! I got under 1 minute and 30 secs on that one. This was on a GT 630 (92 cuda cores and 1gb internal memory) - not much to work with but the results were shocking

Some new renders using the Demo. Modeling all done in ArchiCAD.

Pretty much 1000 passes @ 2~3 min.

Thanks,

I'm no render genius so that's a complement

Some argue that ArchiCAD is a poor modeler. Maybe so, but for architectural renders it's pretty much perfect. And with BIMcomponents we won't have to be doing a lot of modeling in the near future (I hope )

Looks like it won't work on any iMacs as it requires Nvidia
graphic cards. Too bad.

Is this true?

They have a Mac version with a link to download the NVIDIA CUDA driver. I gather then that this driver requires having an NVIDIA card, though you'd think they would place a prominent disclaimer to that effect. The new iMacs are using NVIDIA (as are the MacBook Pros) so that might explain things a bit.

This is too bad as I was thinking of trying it out but I have ATI in my MacPro and am not eager to drop $1200 on a Quadro 4000. (It looks like B&H photo has them for $750 but still...)

Oh well.

ETA: Silly me. It says right there in big red letters: "octanerender™ requires a CUDA capable NVIDIA graphics card."

Matthew,
You can use PC nvidia cards keep existing ATI card for driving the display and use nvidia card purely for redering / calculation. GTX gamer cards are best for this work rather than the quadro cards. Hardest thing is getting cards that have power supply suitable for the Mac Pro, look on the macrumors forums where there are lengthy threads regarding video cards and their power supply.

Scott
