Fills on beams, manualmitre beam ends, 3D profiles for beams

Paul King

Looking for beams to have fills in plan on some occasions & not in others - depending on quickview. (independant of other elements fills)

Also line type & pen should be adjustable per layer & per quick view

Looking to manually mitre ends of beams for clean plan view when abbutting walls or other beams at an angle (but not wanting to join/ merge with them)

Looking to have inclinable beams, that can also have eg steel section profiles in section views - yet that can be maniulated in plan as standard beams (yes I know you can use libray parts - but these don't aitomatically clean up, or interact with wall accessories the way beamss do).

Also elliptical & circular beams, and irregular shaped beams (as for walls)

Paul, I have mentioned that some time ago, check it out at:

I think an inclined beam with ability to tailor the ends to vertical, square horizontal or custom to beam has potential as a really useful tool.

If we were able to at "clean up intersections in 3d" it would be a great boon. ie if two inclined beams meet they complete the full joint in 3d. the tool couljd have a 3d reference line to assist the junction.

An incling beam is a sorely missing tool and its effect can only be achieved with library parts or cubersome usage of roof tool or lots of SEO.

Take a look at FrameWright for many of these features http://www.encina.co.uk/framewright.html
This provides:
  • - Fills in plan (can be transparent, but not view-dependent)
    - Custom profiles
    - User defined reference points
    - Full standard steel library
    - Easy 3D rotation (can be done to selections, and not with parameters)
    - Manual end mitres (again, without having to use parameters!)
    - Curved beams (but not elliptical)
There is no automatic cleanup feature.
