This is normal when you are navigating the model.
There is no need for a cursor as you cant select anything.
If you press 'M' for Measure or 'I' for Information, you will see a cross-hair that acts as your cursor.
When you ESC back to the BIMx menu you should see the cursor again.

When I go to the control panel, settings, controls, etc., that's when the cursor disappears so that it is impossible to tweak any of the settings. This does not happen on my computer, it is happening to a co-worker in the office, also on Windows 7. I'm trying to show an AutoCad/ SketchUp office how cool Bimx is and I can't save the settings for them from my computer and I can't tell them where the cursor went! They all want to use Revit and I'm not having much luck changing their minds.
So just to confirm you don't see the cursor as in the attached image?
If that is it I am not sure why.
Also make sure you are both using the same version.
I think this is the latest.
