AutoCAD's modelling capabilities were not great before 2007. It now retains the history of interactions between solids and voids, so if you don't like the results, you can always get the original solids back.
Of course, Revit had this for ages, but when one company buys another I guess you should expect the gearbox from company A to show up in the company B car!I just wonder what gearboxes we'll get from C4D? Allplan? Vectorworks? IBD? massfix? On-site? Building Services? N-bau financials, iPunkt, rivera, Docuware? Allfa, CW-Haus, CASA, iX-HAUS, CREM?

I don't know.
I have used the standard 2D DWG output files, floor by floor etc for the SE and others but this is my first output to a Manufacturer with A2008 who actually WANTS 3D.
I would not know if what you suggest would work to create an output file, nor whether the A2008 would read it as an entity and create a viable 3D model.
Has anybody got experience of this?

Unless I am getting completely the wrong end of the stick - I think I will pass on this one.
