ArchiCAD/Revit shootout proposal

Canadians, are you ready?

There is a proposal on Revit discussion group to organize a shootout.

Good idea! With good people on both sides this can turn into a VERY interesting event!

So that's two.
Perhaps Matthew could join us if he isn't too busy making ArchiCAD TALK postings.

So now, all we need is a sponsor.
Dwight,

Haven't you noticed that I've slowed down a bit lately?

I'm always happy to gang up with my buds.

Maybe we could put it on at the AIA convention.
It's May 19 - 21 in Las Vegas.

I bet Geoff Langdon could be enticed to help organize and moderate.

Would it be a timed competition?
Would the program be sealed or prep be allowed?
etc., etc.....

We'd want the maximum of suspense and entertainment for all three spectators.

A surprise package is best for this provided we'd have a little planning meeting to knock any absolute pitfalls off of it - but I'm not scared to model and present anything from scratch.

I remember that the prior golf club project was good - a discrete building with a site - good for a tritagteam approach.

Does Mr Langdon have jokes and a bow tie?

Re: your posting ratio: I felt the need to pick up the slack since I am entering yet another manic phase.

Start thinking about the kind of wrestling outfit we should wear. I like the one-piecer with the knee-high boots. And black cape.

Yes, I noticed that you and Karl have caught up with me (added together anyway ).

I like an all black one and a big robe with hood (like good ol' H.H.). I also envision a big sideways figure 8 in rhinestones on the back.

Your picture is taken so close that we can't the smugness of your satisfaction.

I know that I don't have the posting record that you do simply because my program grasp and time generosity pale in the bright raytraced sun of your knowledge.

Lunacy of my addiction is more like it.

Stay closer to the times - even though alcoholics resent an addict blathering away at an AA meeting about their "special" problem - call yourself an ArchiCADDict.

In the old days, folks got hooked on booze. Now it seems like if they go down that road, they become a pig for everything - otherwise how would dried banana peel shaving get so popular?

I have some shoelaces soaked in turpentine. Could be quite a hit.

I think we are almost ready for the shootout...some Revit 7.0 images are showing up at news://discussion.autodesk.com/autodesk.revit

Check 'em out if you want to see what the competition has been up to.

Scott;

The images are nice. Actually, they remind _me_ very much of the Archicad internal render images (this is an observation not a comment!)

Browsing through the other messages in the newsgroup it seems that Revit users have a not-dissimilar set of problems as AC users. Perhaps unsurprisingly!

... and the Accurender / Viz-Max discussion seems very pertinent!!

Thanks for the link.
