Interactive Schedule in AC10

I am not experienced using the calculate menu, but am asking this on behalf of a colleague who is not a part of this forum.

He wants to generate a list of wall surface area for selected walls only. In AC9, he indicated this was easily produced, but in AC10 with a single wall selected, the list returns a summary for all walls (see attached).

Any comments will be appreciated.

As far as I know, AC10 no longer has that ability. (Quite honestly I found it annoying in 9 and was happy to see it go)

You can do it with the listing functions. I don't know what is loaded as a default, but I think the "element basic" or something like that will pull up those attributes. You can always go into the "set up list schemes" dialogue and adjust it for that, but I am pretty sure the basic one that loads will work.

HOWEVER.. those functions must be turned on in the work environment in order to access them.

You can still use the element list like Quick Walls and it will list what you have selected.

Also if you Right Click on the "List" or "Elements" from the navigator it will get you to the Set Up List Schemes Dialog.

Hi guys
the question that scott asked regarding the calculation is avery important question. we're doing a lot of remodeling jobs, which usually means that we need to generate, lists and calculations for a very particular parts of the model and I'm not talking about just new walls VS existing walls.
some time it's just more complicated then that.
the feature in AC9 which allowed us to simply select those parts that we wish to calculate was a great help.
so is any dody out there has a trick up their sleeve to do that in AC10
(using the filter options is a solution that require to much settings)
I hope it's not the only way!

You can give the particular walls a particular ID or layer and in the schedule use that as a filter. You can also use other filters such as fill, height, width, outline pen.

I just use the simple trick of using an "X" or such as the ID for things I don't want scheduled and then exclude that ID in the scheduler.

I found your comment interesting...can you explain why you found this annoying?

As far as the original question goes, I believe the Interactive Schedule has always acted this way but "listing" would allow you to isolate specific items. I'm not 100% certain about this but had similar issues when I upgraded to version 9 and tried to isloate itmes unsuccessfully.

The company I was working for would have more than one model in a file and we need to isolate each individual model via marquee to query quantities. We found that Interactive Schedule didn't recognize marquees would not allow this but "listing" functions could.

bottomline...I think listing is the only way to do this

The only time I was opening the scheduler was to update schedules placed on the drawings, which universally were schedules spanning the whole project. If for some reason I was not paying attention and had something selected, only those elements showed up in the schedule.

To me, the schedules offer enough filters to get what you want without having to select them manually each time you update the schedule. Relying on the user to select them seemed like an unnecessary complication (even if Selection Sets are used) and an invitation for error (if they are not).
