Mac OSX Lion

I see Mac is coming out with a new OS. Are there going to be any issues with Archicad's 12 thru 15 any other issues like having to buy yet another computer. I also here that Intel is coming out with a their next chip will that have it's own issues or is it just too early to know anything about either yet.
Either way this might work for me, timing wise since I'm still on 12 on a PPC Mac it may allow me to skip a few computer generations and save a lot of money or maybe I'll just stock up on cheap used Mac's and never upgrade again. Although there are some nice features since 12.

I will soon be upgrading from a 2010 Macbook Pro and Archicad 11. 🙂 and 😞

I assume I will have an external drive with Snow Leopard for non compatible apps such as AC.

I hope to hear some good news in the near future in this thread about full Lion compatibility.

It sounds like some people are running OK with Lion. It's probably worth a try.

You could also create a separate partition on your new internal drive to install Snow Leopard rather than hauling around an external drive.

Rumors are that the MacPros are getting a speed bump this month. If you can hold off for a week or two you may get a 20-25% faster machine for the same money.

I am using Lion and 15 together and everything seems to be working....but... I reinstalled 15 after upgrading to Lion and I put Time machine on to manual as the amount of resource that the associated processes took up were excessive. It started painfully but now works fine. I also added 1GB to the 2,2 macbook pro to take it up to 4GB, beyond the recommended limit, but I am give to understand that the operating system will use the extra area for system functions.

i've been running AC15 on lion since 10.7.1 came out with now major issues. A couple of little annoyances like some weird behavior with the pet pallet when I am using the complex roofs, or occasionally the text editing window does not show things as cleaning as it should, but so far nothing that had slowed my productivity at all. I'm just a one man office though, so I don't know about any BIM server or teamwork issues.
If you are getting a new machine, it will likely have lion already on it, I'd just install AC and try it out, you can always roll back to snow leopard if necessary.

That is not a Mac OSX Lion issue.
Happens on Windows as well.
If the palette is set to "Follow cursor" is disappears and it doesn't remember the last command used.
Setting it to "Jump to preferred location" seems to help.

just a small warning...

if you get the latest version iMac you can actually NOT easily rollback to snow leopard (10.6) as it has a different firmware you will not easily find an installer DVD which the new iMacs will accept.

we are currently awaiting delivery of a special installer DVD from Apple, which might enable us to rollback... however, the applecare guys were not very sure themselves.

Does anyone out there know if the bug that wont allow AC15 to work with Lion has been remedied? I bought a 27" iMAC and am able to upgrade from snow leopard for free, but don't want any headaches with the operating system

That's as before, when you bought a PC with Vista, you had to downgrade to XP. But it's more difficult with Apple!

i can confirm that one can rollback the latest gen iMacs (that ship with 10.7) to 10.6 with the special DVD's that we got through applecare.

regarding the above comment on a bug preventing AC15 to work in LION, i can not confirm that such a bug exists.

@Jeff Beecher: can you please be more specific.

Well, 10.7.2 arrived today. Any word on fixes for Archicad?
