Hi:
Why are angle dimensions so difficult? They rarely seem to work. I don't use them that often, but this has been a problem for me for years.
Instructions are simple, click on an edge or line, click on another, click a thrid time and there you have your angle...but it almost never works. what am I doing wrong here??!!
Simple instructions:
I click on one edge:
I then click on another:
And nothing happens:
Or if something does happen , a random angle shows up that has nothing to do with anything on the model:
Help please!

Phil:
When I do this, I get the mercedes icon when choosing each Line (the Line then has round dimension icons on each end, one is shown in the Help image you posted), then the hammer icon to place the dimension. I don't know why you are getting the unanchored dimension spot icon shown in your screen shots. Are you trying to dimension Lines or some other element?
You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.

I am trying to dimension a ceiling to a skylight shaft (wall element).
And I don't see where I can add a signature line like you have - it's not apparent where to add this within my profile...
Thanks,
Phil

Hi pcrossington,
The method you discribed only works with elements that are recognised as lines or edges. If so each edge will be marked with two round dimension icons.
Otherwise you'll have to use the second method.
Click the two end points of each edge, they'll be marked with four round dimension icons then the hammer icon appears to place a valid cotation.

Phil:
So it sounds like you are working in Section rather than Plan. This works differently than the Help illustration, try BrunoH's method.
