What do the Bldg. material IDs refer to?

In my view they are just placeholders

 

There is no real system out of the box

 

I created my own naming system to suit my workflow

 

You could also use any localised classification system you prefer if you are collaborating

I adjusted all of them to be each material's respective CSI Division Number, so that they all are able to sort correctly.

03 is all the concrete Building Materials

05 is for Metal

06 for Wood

07 for Insulation

etc.
