Drawings update on layout every time I blink

Every time I open a layout, jump from another layout and back again, jump from another app and back to AC with a layout open, open a drawing to edit some minor 2D item and go back to the layout, or take a sip of coffee and look at the layout again, AC updates every single drawing on that layout which wastes about 30 seconds on average.

How can I get AC to be less update-obsessive?!

AC fan since v 7. Currently on AC 26 Build 5003 USA FULL, and AC 28 Build 3110 USA FULL, Apple Silicon,. 2022 Mac Studio, 32G ram. MacOS Ventura 13.7

Set the drawings to Manual update.

Our office was having this problem with 21. It was resolved when we updated to Build 7000.

That would be my first suggestion.
