SOLVED!

Increasing the Dimension Marker Size

Martin Jules

I don't know why I can't increase the marker size through the dimension selection settings. It's limited to 100 mm:

Looking at your image, are you placing Views at a scale <100%? Else your text is like 400mm tall...? If 1:5000 is not big enough, do remember that there is a Custom Scale option at the top.

Hi @Martin Jules you are talking about the angled marker line length being limited to 100mm long, is that right ? If so then the others here can help you find a possible solution to bypass that limit.

There is no solution.

100mm is the maximum - it will print 100mm wide on your plan.

I have never seen the need for a dimension marker to be this big.

2mm is usually more than enough.

Versions 6.5 to 27
i7-10700 @ 2.9Ghz, 32GB ram, GeForce RTX 2060 (6GB), Windows 10
Lenovo Thinkpad - i7-1270P 2.20 GHz, 32GB RAM, Nvidia T550, Windows 11

The solution would be to just draw over it with the line tool if need be ?

Manual drafting is always an option.

But I am intrigued to know why Mjules needs the marker to be so big?

Hey @Martin Jules what scale is that dimension above ?

The scale of the following is 1:500:

Most of the firms establish their graphic charter according to their usual mode of collaboration with the various stakeholders. During the project development and documentation (PDD) phase, in this firm or company, they have usually focused on issues related to the development of design concepts, evaluation of materials, selection of appropriate construction techniques, and appropriate construction documentation to avoid errors and omissions. Whatever the scale, they ensure that all elements always be visible, clear and well defined to facilitate collaboration with other stakeholders. This allows them to issue documents without any confusion, as required by local regulations.

That's exactly what I did in ArchiCAD to comply with their graphic requirements. Otherwise, I can decide to use the same BIM software they use. For information, this limit does not exist in other BIM software, and it has been for a long time that some requests suggest updating these tools in ArchiCAD, which could improve both our practice and collaboration with other stakeholders on the markets.
