Layout doesn't update drawing

I have a major problem with layouts: whenever I change the original drawing by adding or modifying something, the layout doesn't reflect these changes even if I update it. Basically I need to set a fixed layout positioning a map (which needs to remain always in the same identical position) while I need to change the information I put on it. It's a work that develops with time so there is no way I know now I will need 5 or 150 maps or what goes on it.

For instance I have noticed that even layers's switching on and off is not picked up in the layout: if I put a drawing on the layout with x layers on than I want to switch new ones on the layout doesn't update itself and I always remain with the "old" view of the drawing.

Is there a way to update the drawing I put on the layout maintaining the original position?

Thanks

For instance: I have switched off the grid in the original drawing but the layout still shows it even after I have clicked on "update". I need the drawing to maintain the same position in all future "views":

With regard to layers - you should ALWAYS have a view saved in your View Map with a Layer Combination assigned to it. You then place that view (from View Map, not Project Map) on the layout. If you change the layer combination later (and update it in the Layer Settings dialogue) the layout will update accordingly.

If you place a view on a layout that has "Custom" layer assignment you have less control over which layers display when the view is updated.

Positioning of what you see within the view on the layout can be affected by a few factors - such as the Anchor Point in the view's settings (on layout), whether the view is set to "Fit frame to drawing" or "Manually resized frame". It looks like your view is "Manually resized frame" as it has a dotted outline, so the view position should remain.

Thanks s2art. I have no idea what you are talking about so I will look at some specific tutorial on the net.

Thanks for pointing me out in the right direction!

Does anybody have a tutorial for this? I can't find anything on the web. I have found something about layers manager on archiwiki but it's not that helpful.

You won't find tutorials for every aspect of an extremely complex program such as ArchiCAD. But, this issue of what is a View and how to place a view onto a Layout is basic stuff that you must totally understand before moving forward in a project.

The Help files have what you need - you just must take the time to read. Or find someone to teach you. Attached is the chapter that you need to read... followed by the chapter on Documentazione.

I have read all the documentations and saw few tutorials online too.
I think I am missing something as I can't figure out two things:
1 - How to import a view that is exactly the same on different layoutsso that I do not have to adjust them: I'd like to import it right into the paper space of layout so that I do not have to reposition the drawing all the time. Even if I use the trace reference of the masterLayout when I import it always alnds somewhere on the screen with a rotation of 5.13°. The rotation isn't that dramatic: I set it right from the Drawing Selection Setting, what I really can't understand is the import mechanism. Unless I am doing it right and than after import you do need to resize the view to fit into the m aster layout.

This is an example: I'd like to import it in the layout exactly what appeans inside the trace elements as it is, without having to resize or reposition it. Is it something at all possible?

Fit frame to Window should work, in theory...

Once you have your first view placed correctly, Select it, Copy and Paste onto new layout, select the new view and Right-click> Link Drawing to... and select the desired view from the "Link to..." dialogue.

Select the Drawing Tool (without any drawing selected) and check its default values, these are the values that will be applied when a View is Placed on a Layout. In your case check the Properties > Angle and Frame. Also, in your Work Environment, look at User Preference Schemes > More Options > When Placing models views into Layouts...
