does anyone know why the dimensions and text on my floor plan do not show up in the detail drawing?

The Detail Tool does not copy text or dimensions.

Yes, it's annoying. No, there's not any real good reason for it.

Thanks, Tom. That's a drag. Here's what I'm trying to do. I'm putting an addition on an existing house. I have the floor plan for entire house and want to show just the addition at a different scale. I thought I could do it with a detail dwg., but I want the dimensions and the text, etc. Any suggestions?

You can define 2 different view sets with different scale and different layer compinations (layers on - off). One view set for the whole area and one for the addition only. This means of course that you have to place the existing elements and the addititon in different layers.

I think you will find that using your View Sets to control layer combinations and scales will be a much more effective method for enlarged plans. You also don't have to worry about making sure that they match,

Thanks, guys. I'm working on it. Shows the importance of being disciplined about organizing things at the start of a job. Pays off at crunch time.
