Archicad 20 performance drop

Anonymous
Not applicable
We are experiencing some serious 2D performance drop after switching from 19.
Already reported, but I want it to get some more attention as the problem is crucial and we have already switched some projects to 20.

Both machines are xeon w3565 with NVidia card (650GTX and quadro K620).
Project running smooth parallel in 19.
Drivers updated. GPU set to high performance.

Videos of the problem:

Any suggestion would be good.

I am working through various options to try fix the problems we are having. I have gone through any material that is referenced to a AC17 textures and re assigned them to AC20 textures.
When I look at the library manager there is a warning - Missing Library Parts see attached image.

I have used the 'find & select' tool to see if there are any objects in the projects missing these attributes, none can be found.

I still think these legacy AC17 textures are causing the problem and if I could find a way to have them removed from the 'missing attributes' list it might help.

jdaconsult:

Your screen shot shows missing Textures (bitmap images), not missing Objects. They are probably used by the Surfaces in this file. The Surfaces may have one Texture for the OpenGL/Internal Engine, but may use multiple Textures in the CineRender Surface settings, so hunting them down can be difficult. If they are missing from the AC 20 Library then try loading the ARCHICAD 17 Migration Library (Applications > Graphisoft > ArchiCAD 20 > ARCHICAD Migration Libraries > ARCHICAD 17 Migration Library).

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.

Hi All, This has been a known issue. When the user uses the Pan command with the Pan button or with shortcuts, the view can have these observed anomalies (#211094). Our development is working on fixing this problem, currently it is not clear yet, why this happens, what the reasons are.

When the user zooms and pans (with the Pan command, not with the middle-click), then places an element, it is possible that the 2D-drawing process can't handle the amount of new information. From this point, the issue will resurface when/if he/she modifies or creates new elements.

On the video attached in the thread, the user middle-clicks for panning, but probably the issue had started some time before the video was created.

Workaround:
- Restart ARCHICAD and the issue will go away.
- Use only the middle-click for panning to avoid the error.

I've also decided not to start upgrading projects yet as my initial testing showed a really appalling lag in 2D panning. After talking with someone in graphisoft the only thing they could come up with is that it might be a bug to do with the 3dconnexions cad and 3d mouse I use as there is a known issue with this that will be fixed in the next hotfix.

I'm not convinced this is the case as the same lag happens with my regular mice as well, but I'm in no hurry I've just decided to shelve V20 until the hotfix comes out then reassess.

I noticed today while working on a V19 project with consolidate libraries that AC20 was really slow. When switching to a floor plan tab the 3d view first updated then it switched to the floor plan with an incomplete update. As soon as I clicked on the workspace the floor plan updated. I also noticed that the autosave took a about a minute to finish while AC could not be used.

This problem occurs with modified work environment profile.

if this problem occurs because of: mouse driver, GPU driver, OS update, mousepad color, weather, oil barrel price etc.. this is not an excuse. This is just another GS developers failure and nothing more! The real problem is hidden in the new interface, it is obvious. As soon as I change the environment, AC becomes laggy!
Fix or refund, that simple!

Could someone please explain to me why AC20 is listing attributes as missing.
These attributes are legacy textures from AC17 textures which were used in our templates.
As noted previously, I have removed the migration libraries, and re assigned all surfaces (Internal Engine, CineRender, OpenGL). There are no surfaces that list any of the missing attributes and there are no objects that I can find that list these attributes as missing.
I know this is the cause of the performance issues on our machines and the solution has to be related to the legacy AC texture.

The majority of our larger projects are have been created with AC17 textures references so we need a solution to this problem.
I am not getting much help from archicad support, which is equally frustrating.

s a side note I have note used a sig as the problem is replicated on all machines regardless of specs.

I have just been in contact with my local re-seller (Cadimage) and they are saying there is no know issue with the performance of AC20 and are quite surprised i am having any problems. its almost unusable for me, very laggy when i pan and zoom in and out.

Has anyone found a cause or solution to this issue and can someone from Graphisoft please confirm if this is a known bug that will be fixed

HI ALL, the attribute related question should maybe go to an unrelated topic, since it doe not have much to do with a performance drop or the panning issue.
As for the panning, Vahur, please give us exact specifications of your machine and a file to reproduce with. The issue might be caused by improper antialiasing on a 4k monitor in which case antialiasing should be turned off.

Here it goes.
This is my environment profile. It is laggy with any file.
