in Preferences-Dialogs and Pallettes, try switching off the option to auto-close panels

Oh yeah one more thing i have'nt mentioned. When i clicked on the Edit Selected Item arrow the pannel quickly drop down and it goes up again, so its tricky tho, its open but its goes up again, is this a Bug problem or something esle ?
Are you clicking once or doing a long click? It might be the panel understands that is should close. Check the status of "Close panels if the dialog box cannot accomodate more panels" in the Preferences. Also, increase your scren resoultion if possible; IMHE 1280x1024 is the minimum manageable, 1600x1200 is comfortable.

I meant you should try downloading the latest drivers for your graphics card. I may be a driver problem.
