Ctrl-C = Crash

It seems there is a new shortcut.

Ctrl-C = CRASH.

At least it does the first time I use it each day, if I have restarted my computer. After that it works fine, relaunch Archicad and all is good, Ctrl-C like crazy.... until I turn my computer off again, restart, launch Archicad, work, work, work, Ctrl-C - and it just hangs up.

I am starting to get one step ahead and saving immediately before using Ctrl-C to copy, meaning no work lost, but was wondering if anyone else is experiencing similar symptoms.

Cheers

don't do it then?!

but seriously - i have heard talk before that there is some kind of trouble with windows copy/paste functionality . . . maybe it's an extension of this? do you have any 3rd party system add-ons that could be interfering?

Maybe next time I will try right click-copy instead, if I remember.

Don't think so.

Baffles me as to why this only occurs once, upon starting up (no matter how long after start-up, still the first Ctrl-C operation).

Yes, it happened to me quite often especially when used in Library editor.

Glad ( ) to know I'm not the only one. Terima kasih.

Is this a windows only thing?

I have had CMD+V (paste Mac OS version) crash AC when copying lines to a custom profile ( either between floor plan or profile to profile) and I just crashed it while trying it out to see if it was fixed in the 1010 update. So definitively not a Windows only problem.

This one's been around for a while. In Windows:
The thing is not to panic when ArchiCAD freezes.
Remain calm and toggle yourself into My Computer or Windows Explorer.
Select any file. Don't open it. Just light it up.
Go back to ArchiCAD. It should no longer be catatonic.
Save. Close. Reboot. Swear. Coffee.

Thanks David. I've tried going to task manager and hitting "switch to" button (which has worked on other hangs) but got nothing. I'll try your method if it happens again.

News just in....

It appears this is a windows problem, nothing to do with Archicad at all.

Yesterday it happened when Crtl+C'ing from outlook.

Started up this morning and it hung up when doing a "Print scrn" screen capture. David's solution revived it.
