You shouldn't assume that the treatment provided to Australia users through Graphisoft Australia (an independent company) is typical of the rest of the world.

Hi Dwight
True I should probably Not Assume This treatment is world wide & i Hope it is not, but if i want to purchase their products i have NO choice but deal with Grafisoft Australia, as Graphisoft (The Company) advises me to deal with my local distributor who is Appointed by Graphisoft. So Actions by an individual or Representative of Graphisoft Australia (an independent company it may be) reflects on Graphisoft (The Company World Wide) & will affect its reputation World Wide.
I can get an educational copy of archicad if i am a student Free
If i am a new prospective client i can get a demonstration copy
If i am an existing user who has an investment in the product already i am told i need to upgrade to the latest version or i will not get reasonable support without being able to test the product. I get a Discovery CD ONLY on Request
I would have thought Graphisoft (The Company) would have some influence on this. and its not like we have a choice of dealers down here & if Graphisoft (The Company) does not see a red flag here they are part of the Problem.

Of course you are absolutely correct Martin. Graphisoft Australia and indeed Graphisoft HQ needs to supply anyone and everyone who asks, with a free demo version of the software. What's more it should be available by download, for those users who have broadband.

Even if you've only got one license, you've spent what 4, 5, 6, 7 thousand dollars, and you're not being treated like a 7 thousand dollar customer. Not to mention your potential worth to Graphisoft as an existing customer (the most valuable of all!) who may buy many more licenses and recommend the program to others, if only you were treated the way you deserve.

It's quite sad to hear of any ArchiCAD reseller undermining the good work of the team at GSHQ. I think there are many resellers around the world that would treat their customers more appropriately if only they had a little competition!

Things surely need to change.

Cheers,
Link.

A work around for the lack of a DEMO is to use the AC10 educational link to download the software. When you install it if you don't have a key and if you don't specify it is education it will work as a demo.

Phew
I thought i might just get hammered for this view
Nice to see some support Thanks
I have been playing with the Int US version Edu it seems much more responsive than v9 on mac & windows Lots of new features & I long for the US library & its structure to be in the Aust version instead of a jumble sale approach. You have better traditional style or at least simpler windows, doors. Object pen colours & texture setup is good (you don't get brick textured reveals/ceramic posts etc in the standard template as supplied). The demo template has layers & combinations that make more sense of a concept which i have always been frustrated with.Printing a project looks & hopefully is to be a pleasure. Love tracking,& thanks Dwight I found Explore Rotate & F4.(need to read documentation more Carefully)
Just need someone with the Aust version to give us a link so as to see if its as good & what has/has not been removed/inserted.

Hi
Link
I did not intend for you to take this seriously & am sorry if i may have offended you, or you thought i was playing a joke on you.I was NOT. I will have to be more careful in future. I also did not think you traveled this far (Australia).
I was attempting to make a Point (to Graphisoft Australia hopefully they read these forums) of the fact that i was getting replies & free support from an thoughtful ArchiCAD trainer Online, When we have been promised by Graphisoft Australia's Service Manager for the last 2 years we were getting a local support representative in SA & received none.(These forums support us unsupported users) I appreciate their replies & advice.
Again i apologize & hope i did not offend.
