Solid Fills and OpenGL settings bug?

I changed my Work Env Profile to "Optimize drawing method for high performance card" and found that vectorial fills when set to solid will take the pen color of the background pen instead of the pen color of the foreground pen (no matter what the color of the background pen). This only happens for the solid, marker and 100% fill all others are unaffected. This does not happen if I uncheck the option.
Also I noticed that with this option active when AC launches the usually white window is black. Though I don't see any particular speed advantage over choosing hardware optimization (I though that my card qualified) it is strange behavior. BTW it does not matter if the window background is white or grey.
If anybody knows of a particular reason for this behavior the explanation will be welcome.
Also, should I use "hardware optimization" or not?

try this topic:

and also look at the graphics card performance tests, available at the lower half of archiCAD-TALK's index page . . .

Thanks for the reply archiben

Just posted this info to document the glitch. The question about using OpenGl on 2D was to find out if anything had changed since 8.1.
