Trus Joist does not manufacture hangers, but your scenario should work...

Most top flange hangers will accomodate skews up to 5°. Beyond that, you or your contractor will need to special order skewed hangers.

hmmm....If you were referring to our gdl generic hangers, you should have skew options as a parameter...
I know the product works verry well.

I meant the ArchiCAD object. Look closer at the picture. There is someting wrong with the hangers.

skews are available as a parameter in the public objects...
Yes the skew feature works very well on straight walls.
Look closer at the picture to see it on a curved wall. The hanger is strange.
Rotate the hanger to match the curve of the wall and try it. It looks great in plan view but like the picture below in 3D. Attached is a test file.

Is the TJI library available for OSX & AC8.1, I can't seem to find it on your site......a link would be great maybe in your profile.

Thanks,

Hmmm...unfortunately, you didn't catch this sooner...

However, tell me...did you mirror the hangers from one side to another?

It seems to be something in the 3D script but, it is not always repeatable. I have a similar job that I am currently working on and when I checked the 3D view it looked similar to your file. I removed the misbehaving hangers, rotated a copy of others that were showing correctly. They all look fine now.

When I attempted a similar approach on your file, it was still flawed. I then placed a new hanger with a 10 degree skew, checked it in 3D, rotated it against the curved wall, checked it in 3D, adusted the skew and again checked it in 3D. All was well.
I reported the problem to our GDL guy, Sean McMurtrey...no word on an update or when he can even look into it. We are pretty busy with our real jobs...

This as an excellent opportunity for everyone to approach Simpson Strong-Tie, USP and other component manufacturers to create GDL libraries of their products!

Sorry, Robert...Release is temporarily delayed as our Mac beta testers haven't reported back, save one.

Great idea...in the meantime....http://www.trusjoist.com/EngSite/GDL/?CategoryID=2&SubCategoryID=79&SubCategory2ID=186&sortOrder=2
Old topic - but we might be able to use these hangers again now because of the Revit RFA Import tool ? The ones shown in the picture are Cadimage

Lots of good Simpson stuff in .skp here too -- https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/user.html?id=0724210250130978363401773&nav=models

Why is it that there is no .gsm library for this stuff too ? Why does the whole world seem to think that the only thing BIM is Revit?

TIP: If a person is not modeling with 3D hangers, you might still want to use have one of these 3D hangers for use in your hanger schedules.
