Custom door leafs disappearing

Curtis Sorenson

Hey ArchiCAD enthusiasts!

I've been absolutely enamored with ArchiCAD lately, and I'm usually the first to recommend it. However, I've hit a bit of a snag and could use your collective brilliance.

My particular woe lies in the realm of custom door leafs, specifically garage door leafs. Now, I know the sleek glass garage door panels are all the rage these days, but alas, Graphisoft hasn't caught up with the trend.

After attempting to create a custom leaf and adding it to my embedded library, I'm faced with the peculiar situation of seeing it in my library but finding it mysteriously absent in 2D/3D views. Yes, I've combed through overrides and renovation filters, but the phantom door remains.

So, ArchiCAD gurus, can you shed some light on why this might be happening? Perhaps share a workaround or solution? I've even considered starting a support group for those of us yearning for barn doors in the library options!

Let's pool our expertise and make ArchiCAD even greater together. Screenshots attached for your sleuthing pleasure.

Thanks a million!

The 2 door leafs are in your embedded library - that is good.

Your Library manager shows 1850 warnings - not so good.

I would say lot of duplicate objects judging by the folders with "(1)' in their names.

Delete the duplicates - this may help.

When you go into the garage door settings, do you have the option to see those custom door leafs in a list of available custom leafs?

If not then that is a problem with the file that contains those door leaf names.

I believe the file is in your user profile somewhere - I will have to do some research to find exactly where if that is the case.

There are some old posts here about it - just a matter of finding them.

If those custom leafs are there, then I would clean up all the warnings in the Library Manager first to see if that helps.

Do the door leafs show in the preview?

Have you tried searching BIM objects for garage door options ?

CI tools has an add on interface for custom windows and doors.

Barry,

I am having the same problem right now.  Custom door leaf shows up in the available leafs, but the preview is empty and so is the actual door in the model.

I've made custom leafs before and had success.  Any Ideas?

Thanks.

So in your door object, you can see a list of available custom leaves, but even when you choose one they do not show in the object preview or in the model.

Could it be duplicates in your library or maybe you created the door leafs in a newer version of Archicad and are trying to open them in an older version (I am just guessing)?

Try saving a new custom door leaf with a unique name and see if that works.

If it does, I would be suspecting duplicate objects loaded or something is wrong with those custom leaf objects.

If not, then I have no idea.

Thanks for getting back to me.  (I'm using AC 26 by the way).

So I made some real simple Test doors Leafs saved at "Test Door" and the same thing happens.  The New custom door leaf is an option in the door tool, but fails to populate.  They do however sow the handle if chosen. I just looked in my embedded library for duplicates (found nothing) Deleted all the ones I made and Saved a new one with new name.  Same thing happened.

I Opened a new empty PLN.  Made the door leaf from scratch,  Same thing.

I converted the slabs to morphs and it worked. So at least I"m moving past this for now.

Thanks

I spoke to soon.  It worked in the new blank file but not in the project i'm working on.  So who knows.

Does the Session Report say anything when you place the door?

So just to clarify, you see the custom leaf in the list but it does not show in the object?

If it is not showing in the list, then that is the file in the library that contains all of the names (I mentioned in post above) that is not updating.

I know where the file is in the library, but it is in an LCF file, so you can't just delete it.

Deleting it is fine because it will just be created again.

You could open it to see if your door leaf is in there.

This file is also duplicated in your user profile.

The problem there is, those user folders are hidden, so you won't be able to see it unless you un-hide the folder in your operating system.

I am on Windows and I just happen to have version 22 running at the moment.

For me it is here ...

Maybe deleting that file will refresh everything when you re-load the library.
