Goodies - Grid Tool - Problems!!

Hi!

We're using the Grid Tool and are having a few problems...

(we're using AC11 and the file is teamworked)

1) When we return to our elevation views we're getting multiple dimension strings....5 or 6 in the same place. If we delete them, they'll show up again later on.
2) They're not showing up in our sections

We did follow the directions that came with the grid tool, along with the archiwiki about it...

SO, I need help with these things:

1) how do we fully delete the grid tool to re-insert a new one
2) what settings do we affect to make sure NO dimensions insert with the grid tool
3) what is the best method for editing an existing grid?

Any help would be appreciated!

AND, if the grid tool is not such a great idea....whats a good way to handle matching grids between the floor plan, sections, elevations...??

THANKS!!!

Djordje,

This is exactly how we used to do it in V10. However I cannot find the ability to change the Grid tool refresh in the V11 Section Settings. Where have they moved it to?

The setting is there, I can't remember where at the moment, and all the dongles are at the office ...
Sorry to go back to an old part of the question, but we still can't find a way to stop the grid tool refereshing in sections. The attached shows how we used to achieve it but I can't find where the setting has now been hidden.

If it is not there in the Dialog in v11 then I would think it is a design decision. GS redesigned the Dialog and thought it would be better this way.
Just a guess.

While I appreciate that a little cosmetic re-design is Ok, the functionality that the refresh state provided appears to have been scraped. Does anyone know if it has been moved elsewhere or just dropped all-together?

In AC10, my problem is that I can make a rectangular grid with "Grid System" and put it in place. Then if I want to modify the grid, maybe insert an additional gridline for example, I select the whole grid, go into "Grid System Settings", and it changes my grid into a square. Even if I don't change anything. There is a setting in "grid geometries" to set the length of the line, but I want my horiz. to be one length and my vert to be another length. The left is before I opened and oked Grid System Settings.

I've never seen this, but would recommend that once the Grid System is somewhat established, you edit individual Grid Elements and abandon the Grid System Settings.

It is getting better ... will be almost usable now 😉

As Laura said - in 10, once you place the system, edit individually. If the changes are too big (e.g. changed spacing) it is better to delete the system and place the new one (yes, you will have to reposition it in S/E)

ok thanks guys, I just got so excited about auto-updating the sequencing but I guess it's not a big deal. Most important is if I adjust the position of a gridline in plan, it is updated in section and elevation. Hope I don't have problems with that...

You should not.

Make sure that in S/E you edit the positions by the marquee, and the settings by the settings of the grid object tool, NOT the grid system.

Then it can even be kept at auto update 😉

Ok, i'm obviously missing something here. I just installed the grid tool and am playing around with it for the first time. How do I change the linetypes, font, pen colours, etc?
